THE ROY WOOD ROCK & ROLL BAND
The band has just wrapped up a string of tour dates that included the Mick Jagger Centre in Dartford, the Robin 2 in Bilston, and a Christmas Special at Birmingham Town Hall. Here's a review of that show:
Festive Show Is Wizzard!
ROY WOOD ROCK & ROLL BAND
Town Hall, Birmingham

24 December 2007
by Andy Coleman
Festive cheer arrived early from a familiar source as Roy Wood played a rare hometown gig. The show covered the the psychedelic Move years, the Glam Rock Wizzard era, and some new songs from a forthcoming Rock & Roll album. An initial muddy sound marred the opening of California Man and Ball Park Incident, with the vocals of female singer Shell Naylor particularly lost in the mix. And the sold out crowd was slow to respond, prompting Roy to remark "How polite - we're used to gigs where people are jumping about on pogo sticks. "Well, that was never going to happen at the posh new Town Hall but respect to Roy for persevering until everyone was on their feet and singing by the time set closer I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday came along an hour later.
VERDICT: ***** (out of 5)
